Canai is a starting point for walks and hikes with views over Valbelluna. Two routes offer different options: the Giro della Val della Vena hiking route and Pedalando tra i narcisi, a tour for mountain biking and gravel enthusiasts. Other highlights include the patron saint Santa Giuliana and the Cippo le Fosse memorial stone.

Hiking with Views over Valbelluna

The Giro della Val della Vena is a scenic circular trail at the foot of Monte Artent. It passes through the villages of Canai and Colderù, as well as the pastures of Le Fosse. These pastures offer views of the Feltrino area and the Belluno Dolomites. The Giro is a moderately difficult hike that follows trails and unpaved roads. The ascent covers about 750 metres of elevation gain, and the route takes approximately four hours. The approximate duration, elevation gain and moderate difficulty give you a concrete basis for fitting the Giro into your day’s itinerary.

Pedalando tra i narcisi is a tour for mountain biking and gravel enthusiasts. After Stabie, the route continues through Canai. By comparison, the Giro is a moderately difficult hike with about 750 metres of elevation gain and a duration of approximately four hours; Pedalando focuses on mountain biking and gravel riding. This lets you distinguish between the two routes first by the activity you prefer: a hike or a mountain biking and gravel tour. Their geographical details also help with the comparison: on the Giro, the pastures of Le Fosse offer views of the Feltrino area and the Belluno Dolomites; Pedalando continues through Canai after Stabie.

Churches and Local History

Santa Giuliana is the patron saint of Canai. On 31 May 2026, an interior visit to the Chiesetta di Canai – Santa Giuliana was scheduled as part of Chiesette aperte in Valbelluna. Frammenti d'arte in Valbelluna also takes place annually; at this event, the public can discover hidden artistic and religious treasures in the region’s smaller churches. The two activities also differ in timing: the visit to Canai was scheduled for a specific day, while Frammenti d'arte takes place every year.

Cippo le Fosse, a memorial stone in the hamlet of Le Fosse in Canai, is part of the area’s history. It was erected at the site where a howitzer shell killed two Alpini and injured several people. De Cet Sante completely restored the memorial stone in 2018. Together, Santa Giuliana and Cippo le Fosse represent different cultural connections to the village: its patronage and a memorial site with a clearly identified historical origin.
