San Vito Di Cadore between slopes, cycle route and lake

San Vito Di Cadore offers various ways to discover the town and its surroundings: the ski area lies at the foot of Monte Antelao, a cycle route follows the former railway line, and Lago di Mosigo can be reached on foot from the centre. Between green meadows and dense forests of conifers and beech trees, this creates a landscape that combines winter sports, cycling, walks and nature observation.

Winter sports and activities at Parco NeveSole

The San Vito ski area has 20 km of slopes for all levels of difficulty. Large car parks and a free shuttle bus on request are available for access to the facilities. It operates within the municipality of San Vito and is offered to residents and tourists, explicitly including non-skiers.

Parco NeveSole complements the ski area with a ski school area featuring two conveyor belts. There, you can learn to ski or snowboard. The park also includes a play area for sledding and riding on tyres. The children's centre organises activities indoors and outdoors, including workshops with salt dough, wood, paper and fabrics, group games and theatre. Thus, in addition to the slopes, supervised activities and playful offerings are also documented.

Lago di Mosigo and trails in the town

Lago di Mosigo is a ten-minute walk from the centre of San Vito if you follow the footpath along Via Sentinella. The area is considered a high-quality natural habitat with many wild animal species and is visited by migratory birds passing through. At the lake, there is an equipped area with wooden play equipment, plastic structures, a small funicular, tables and benches. Two fire pits are available for barbecuing.

Another way to explore San Vito on foot is the Antica Strada Regia route. It begins in the centre, in the square behind the parish church. In summer, the route leads to Rifugio San Marco: leave your car at Baita Sunbar and then continue along the forest road that begins behind it, on the orographically right-hand side of the Ru Secco. The walking time is approximately two hours.

Cycling and culture

The Cortina–San Vito cycle route follows the former railway line and passes forests, open areas and Alpine villages. It is easy and runs entirely along a paved cycle path. The Calalzo–Cortina cycle route also runs partly along the Antica Strada Regia on the section between San Vito di Cadore and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

In the town, the Chiesa della Madonna della Difesa is one of the cultural highlights. Its high altar bears a triptych attributed to Francesco Vecellio. This makes it possible to combine a stay in San Vito Di Cadore with landscape, activity, winter offerings and a specific art-historical detail.
