Triches can be understood as a travel destination primarily through its cultural history and the routes across the area. The Church of San Bartolomeo, Villa Tasso and archaeological traces span very different periods; the Anello di Valmorel adds a specific route through several places to these themes. When choosing a destination, you can therefore weigh up whether church art, architectural history or a walking tour is the deciding factor.

Church of San Bartolomeo and Villa Tasso

The Church of San Bartolomeo was first mentioned in 1526. In 1807, it was elevated to the status of a subsidiary church of the Pieve di San Giustina di Limana; it provided the residents of Triches and Navenze with the sacraments. Its religious history therefore extends beyond Triches to Navenze.

In 1974, frescoes dating from the early 16th century were discovered on the wall of the church's presbytery. Frescoes depicting the Evangelists and the hieratically portrayed Eternal Father date from the mid-18th century. The different dates offer insight into the long history of church art in Triches.

Villa Tasso is another architectural landmark. The building is very small, strikingly tall and cube-shaped; it stands in a panoramic, commanding position. Villa Tasso is part of the historic and cultural architectural heritage of the municipality of Limana and is listed among the villas of the Istituto Regionale Ville Venete. It is believed to date from the 18th century.

Archaeological traces around Triches

A Late Neolithic settlement existed in Triches di Limana. It probably consisted of a few huts on a flat area at the foot of a hill. The hill offers panoramic views across the Val Belluna; the settlement was only a short distance from the present-day centre of Triches.

Numerous flint artefacts from the area around Triches have been dated to the final phase of the Neolithic. They include blades and bladelets, scrapers, burins, awls, flakes and cores, but above all arrowheads. The reconstruction of the settlement and the varied forms of finds offer two different perspectives on prehistoric times: a possible living environment and the range of worked flints.

Routes and regional history

The Anello di Valmorel passes through Triches as well as Giaon, Valmorel, Navenze, Polentes, Ricomes, Dussoi and Limana. The route follows asphalt and roads; a short section runs along a nature trail. As the route may change, the current route is the one to follow when planning your trip.

Further afield in the region, the medieval castle of San Pietro in Tuba stood at the entrance to the Valpiana, on the hill of the same name, beside the road from Giaon to Valmorel. Today, the castle site is completely unrecognisable. The site is therefore a different historical landmark from the surviving examples of church and architectural history in Triches itself.

A route leading from Limana to Valmorel along the municipal road through Val Fiera passes through Cesa, Pieve, Canè, Triches, Navenze and Valmorel. It includes 12 wayside shrines and 5 wayside chapels. The Edicola di Santa Barbara is also located in Triches.
