Zoppola is a suitable choice for a trip if you do not want to separate cultural history from gardens and river landscapes. The town offers several clearly distinguishable points of access: an art gallery, religious and castle history, a romantically designed garden, and waterside landscapes. This picture is complemented by Arti e Sapori, which reached its 20th edition in 2026.

Art and Historic Sites in Zoppola

The Galleria Civica d'Arte di Zoppola was founded in 2002 on the occasion of a retrospective exhibition on Duilio Jus. Thus, contemporary or later exhibition culture is just as much a part of the townscape as the older evidence found in the churches and historic complexes. The foundation was linked to a specific occasion, making the gallery an independent cultural theme within Zoppola.

The Pieve San Martino di Zoppola was rebuilt in 1298. Its sacristy and choir contain elaborately designed furnishings with back panels from the Venetian “scuola della Carità” dating from the 18th century. Those interested in regional religious history and craftsmanship will find two different historical levels here: the rebuilding of the Pieve and the later furnishings with their Venetian connection.

The Castello di Zoppola is also associated with a clearly dated ownership history: it was owned by the Panciera family from 1405 onward. In Ovoledo, the Chiesa di San Michele is another historic religious building of central importance. The church dates from the second half of the 15th century; probably only the presbytery of the original structure has survived. This cautious classification is important because it distinguishes between the age of the church and the extent of the original building fabric preserved today.

Another historical reference leads to the Ex Mulino di Murlis. The existence of a mill at this location has been documented since 1325. The name therefore points to a long history of use, without allowing any conclusions to be drawn about current operation or present-day accessibility.

Garden, Water and Landscape

The Giardino di Zoppola is romantically designed and features a bridge over a small watercourse. Its distinctive element is therefore not only the garden layout but also the combination of design and water.

Lì Blachis is a municipal area on the edge of the Rio Brentella, the former course of the Meduna. The “Cellina-Meduna” nature park is characterized by the stream of the same name; spring water flows between gravel areas and sandy ridges.

A Distinct Event Connection

Arti e Sapori reached its 20th edition in 2026. In addition to art, churches, castle history and landscapes, this provides you with another documented point of reference that places Zoppola in context beyond individual buildings and natural sites.
