Bosco Chiesanuova between Culture and Landscape

Bosco Chiesanuova combines an informative exploration of local history with historic religious buildings, designated natural areas and various starting points for trails. If you would like to choose your stay based on specific experiences, here you will find both museum exhibits and routes and places with a clearly identifiable historical or landscape connection.

Discover Everyday Life, Crafts and History

The “Luxino” Ethnographic Museum of Bosco Chiesanuova covers a broad range of subjects: prehistory, alpine pasture farming, haymaking, milk processing, the production of charcoal, ice and lime, woodworking, spinning, weaving and popular religious devotion. A visit to the museum therefore takes you through various aspects of life and work handed down through local culture.

A single historic testimony to this working world is La Giassara del Grietz. It was built around 1870; its ice production continued until 1935/36. The interior cannot be visited. However, the depth of the structure can be glimpsed through openings on the sides, and an information board is located nearby. The site is therefore primarily suitable as an externally accessible stop with explanatory information.

The Chiesa di San Benedetto e Tommaso in Bosco Chiesanuova was built before 1375. It was originally dedicated to Saint Thomas before being dedicated to Saint Benedict. The Oratorio di San Michele Arcangelo in Maregge was built in 1724. From Bosco Chiesanuova, you can reach it via Provincial Road 6 towards San Giorgio; it is located in the village of Maregge along the road.

The Baito della Coletta also represents the traditional processing of milk into cheese. The historic building was restored and converted into a museum. In the Lughezzano district within the municipality of Bosco Chiesanuova, you will also find the Santuario della Madonna dei Sette dolori, an important pilgrimage destination.

Woodland Areas and Various Routes

The Foresta dei Folignani is classified as an oriented nature reserve within the park and lies in the special conservation area ZSC IT321040 “Monti Lessini - Pasubio - Piccole Dolomiti Vicentine”. There are several starting points for hikes: numerous routes can be taken from the Rifugio Bocca di Selva or from the Ponte dell’Anguilla.

The Bosco Chiesanuova–Bocca di Selva route offers its own orientation. You can reach its starting point at Bocca di Selva from Bosco Chiesanuova by heading towards San Giorgio; shortly before San Giorgio, turn towards Bocca di Selva. The Bosco Chiesanuova – Da Grietz alle contrade più alte route, on the other hand, begins in the Grietz district, 4 km from Bosco Chiesanuova. It leads through forests, meadows and hamlets of medieval origin.

Ice Skating with Views of Verona and Lake Garda

The Palaghiaccio di Bosco Chiesanuova offers ice skating on an outdoor rink in a green hollow with views of Verona and Lake Garda. Figure skating and ice hockey courses with qualified instructors are also available. Prior reservation through the map service is required for these courses.
