Polcenigo can be discovered through its springs, watery landscapes, historic buildings and specific trails. If you are looking for accommodation in Polcenigo, you can therefore plan your stay around different interests: nature observations in wetlands, culture in the town centre, or walking and cycling routes through the surrounding area.

Springs, Water and Special Landscapes

The Gorgazzo Spring, also known by the dialect name “el buso”, is an underwater cave. The Gorgazzo stream of the same name rises inside it. Another type of landscape is represented by the Fontaniva spring pools: bodies of water and small ponds are scattered there among the vegetation.

The pile-dwelling site of Palù di Livenza also combines nature and history. The area provides a habitat for various species of marsh birds and hygrophilous plants. From the built-up centre of Polcenigo, the route leads along Via Roma, past the Church of San Rocco and along Via Livenza to a car park with information panels. This allows you to include the site specifically in your day's plans without treating it as part of a general tour of the town.

The San Floriano Rural Park covers 65 hectares. Its grounds include permanent meadows, woodland, a traditional garden and a synergistic garden, orchards and a medicinal herb garden. Activities include guided visits to the beehives, honey tastings and making a beeswax candle in autumn and winter. Other activities include walks through the orchards, fruit picking and jam making.

Palazzi, Church and Culinary Heritage

Several separate destinations are available for a cultural exploration. Palazzo Scolari-Salice has an Italian garden with paths, hedges and rare centuries-old trees. Palazzo Fullini-Zaia on Piazza Plebiscito stands out for its rusticated arches, trifora windows and original mascarons.

The Church of the Santissima Trinità stands a few metres from the Gorgazzo Spring. It was rebuilt and extended in the 16th century. The Museo dell'Arte Cucinaria commemorates generations of cooks who emigrated all over the world. The Sagra dei sést provides its own cultural touch. The festival of baskets and of wicker, rushes and bast takes place on the first Sunday in September.

Walks and Cycling Tours

The “10 Mila Passi di Salute FVG – Polcenigo” circular walking route follows the Livenza River and runs alongside the UNESCO pile-dwelling site area of “Palù di Livenza”. A nature-focused variant crosses the Rui de Brosa and then follows the left bank of the Gorgazzo beneath dense tree cover via a footbridge. Another route reaches the Gorgazzo Spring via a footpath and then continues into the historic centre of Polcenigo.

For cycling travellers, the 28.3 km “Anello di Sacile e del Gorgazzo” circular cycling route offers another way to explore the area. The route passes the La Santissima Spring on its way to Polcenigo. Polcenigo is also located near the Cammino di San Cristoforo.
