Discover Valpicetto: Trails, Fountains and Mountain Views

Valpicetto is a suitable starting point if you would like to combine hiking trails, small traces of cultural history and viewpoints. The options range from a simple, largely level fountain walk to a trail with 300 metres of elevation gain and a circular route to Monte Talm that reaches a panoramic summit. The landscape experience is complemented by fountains, a historic washhouse, churches and the location along a panoramic road.

Hiking trails with different levels of difficulty

CAI Trail 225 is 1.5 km long, climbs 300 metres and leads to the junction with Trail 226 near Pradaer. It begins near the Church of Santa Barbara and runs through the forest. This trail therefore describes a clearly measurable, uphill connection, while the Rigolato–Magnanins–Valpicetto fountain trail is considered an easy, largely level hike suitable for everyone.

The fountain trail can be extended by around 200 metres and 40 metres of elevation gain from the Fontana Da Placio in Valpicetto. This extension leads to the Fontana di Santa Barbara and the Church of Santa Barbara. If you are looking for a shorter and level route, this provides a different type of trail from CAI Trail 225. The circular route to Monte Talm can be started from Valpicetto via CAI Trail 225 and reaches a panoramic summit.

Fountains, churches and views

The fountain trails connect several specific sights. The Fontano de Plaço in Valpicetto was designed by master mason Vidale Umberto, who was also known as Bert di Toni. It is protected by the heritage authorities. The Lavatoio di Valpicetto has a central fountain with three taps and two wash basins supplied by the fountain.

The Chapel of Santa Barbara is a panoramic viewpoint. From there, you can look out over the districts and the valley. Visiting the churches along the fountain trails requires prior arrangement with the person responsible for the keys. This information concerns access to the churches and is therefore part of the practical orientation before your visit.

Location and historical traces

A panoramic road runs between Calgaretto and Magnanins through Valpicetto. This connection is a defining feature of the local setting, without allowing any specific travel time to be inferred from it. Historical traces also include the Casa dell'emigrante, which dates from 1906. Ruperto Vidale had previously worked in Switzerland and designed a building himself with large windows, decorated wood and numerous furnishing details.
