Bosco di Tretto is suitable for travelers who want to plan their time in the mountains around specific hiking trails. Several routes begin in the hamlet or follow its access roads to the slopes and ridges of Monte Summano and Monte Novegno. The starting points and landscapes vary: you will find CAI trails, wooded sections, military mule tracks, and a ridge trail with alternating ascents and descents.

Hiking trails with clear starting points

CAI hiking trail 444 leads from Bosco di Tretto to its junction with trail 455 at an elevation of 1,375 meters.

The “Luci da est” hike begins in Bosco di Tretto at CAI trail marker 444. It follows one of the oldest access routes to the eastern and central alpine pastures of Monte Novegno. Those interested in trails connected with the traditional access routes in this mountain area will find an independent option for choosing their route here.

“Sulle orme del camoscio” also begins in Bosco di Tretto, via the road to Passo Colletto di Velo. After approximately 400 meters on the unpaved section, a CAI-marked spot indicates the trailhead. Take this section into account when planning your starting point and the equipment you need.

Between ridges, forests and military trails

“Sulle creste del Summano” can begin at Colletto Grande di Velo in the hamlet of Bosco di Tretto. The trail is signposted as 462A and runs as a well-marked route with alternating ascents and descents, partly along ridges and partly through the forests on the ridge. This gives you the option of a route alternating between open ridge sections and forest passages.

The “Cammino della memoria” can be reached from Bosco di Tretto via the road to Colletto di Velo and Monte Summano. After approximately 400 meters on the unpaved section, a CAI-marked spot indicates the trailhead. The trail leads across the wooded slopes of Brazome along a military mule track.

“Sulle orme del camoscio” runs along the southeastern ridge of the Novegno massif and mostly follows a military mule track that climbs the slopes of Rozzo Covole. Together with the other routes, this provides a selection in which you can focus on your preferred starting point, forest passages or ridge sections.

Getting there and finding accommodation

You can reach Bosco di Tretto via Provincial Road 65. It begins in Santorso and passes through the Schio hamlets of S. Maria and S. Ulderico. This allows you to combine your search for a hotel or other accommodation with the focus of your hiking plans, without assuming any particular distances or travel times.
