Mansuè
Accommodation in Mansuè
Mansuè combines a distinctive natural environment with historic buildings and local gathering places. For orientation, the main points of interest are the Prà dei Gai, a recommended itinerary from the town centre, and several churches, villas, and archaeological remains.
Prà dei Gai and the itinerary
The Prà dei Gai are a 600-hectare natural floodplain landscape with permanent grassland. The Casteir River of Mansuè is located within this landscape. The recommended itinerary leads from the town centre of Mansuè to the Prà dei Gai and has a total length of 18 kilometres. This makes it possible to combine the town centre with the extensive floodplain in one specifically described outing, without treating the individual areas as the same place.
An announced event also highlights this connection with the landscape: Mansuè&Rosa is a hiking event open to everyone, set amid the greenery of the Prà dei Gai. The fifth edition is scheduled for 13 September 2026. The weekly market in Mansuè, held on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Piazza Francesco Dall’Ongaro, provides an additional local connection.
Historic sites and churches
Secular buildings include Villa Calzavara, a two-storey building from the 17th century. Villa Carretta was probably built in 1610 by the Ca’Zorzi family. Parts of the park and the stables of the original Villa Aganoor, Zecchinato, Arrigoni have been preserved. These three sites each represent a different traditional form of historic architecture in Mansuè.
The Tumulo del Rasego was built by the ancestors for ritual and funerary purposes. A solar alignment has also been identified between the Casteir River of Mansuè, which lies within the Prà dei Gai, and the Tumulo del Rasego. Both details give the natural environment an additional archaeological and cultural-historical dimension, without describing the tumulus as part of a present-day building.
In Cornarè stands the Church of Saints Mauro and Macario, a religious building dating from the 11th century on the historic Via dei Sali. The Church of San Mansueto has a main altar with an intricately designed tabernacle, flanked by two marble angels dating from 1754. Its façade bears a mosaic of Saint Mansueto created by Lisa Battistuta in 2011.
Further religious sites and local places of remembrance complete the picture: the Church of San Giorgio in Basalghelle has a painting in its apse by Antonio Morera depicting Saint George against a blue starry sky. The remains of Blessed Cosma’s birthplace are located at the junction of Via dei Benedettini and Via Basalghelle. Mansuè therefore offers both clearly described access to a floodplain landscape and several independent points of interest for cultural and historical exploration.
