Refrontolo combines the Molinetto della Croda, freely accessible year-round, with paths through a landscape shaped by streams, rocks and gentle hills. The focal point is the Molinetto della Croda with its waterfall, exhibitions and a small museum. This visit is complemented by the Tempietto Spada, Villa Spada, the parish church and the annual Mostra del vino. This allows you to structure your stay around nature, local history and regional wine culture.

Molinetto della Croda: Mill, Museum and Waterfall

The outdoor area in front of the waterfall and the Molinetto della Croda are freely accessible year-round. Allow 30 to 60 minutes for the visit. This makes it a clearly defined destination that can be combined with other stops in Refrontolo.

The Molinetto della Croda hosts exhibitions and art exhibitions of various kinds. A small museum explains the history and operating techniques of watermills. During a demonstration, visitors can see how the Molinetto della Croda grinds cornmeal. The wheel and millstone are operated on special occasions. The visit therefore showcases not only a building, but also individual work processes and technical elements of mill operation.

A nature trail runs near the waterfall. From March to the end of October, the Molinetto della Croda also has equipped outdoor areas for picnics. A telephone reservation is required for group visits; when making the reservation, state the arrival date, arrival time and number of visitors. This rule applies to groups and should be taken into account when planning such a visit.

Paths through Hills, Gorges and Former Mining Sites

Refrontolo has a network of paths leading through gentle hills. The paths provide access to old mills, former lignite mines and karst caves. Impressive rocky gorges lie along the Crevada stream. This makes it possible to combine different landscape forms within the municipality without focusing on a single attraction.

Another path leads from Refrontolo's piazza to the Tempietto Spada. The Tempietto Spada is located at an exceptional viewpoint with a 360-degree view over the Quartier dei Piave and Felettano. The small building was erected around 1884 and rebuilt in 1992. It is dedicated to the Madonna del Carmelo. Villa Spada is also significant for the local history: its construction began in the second half of the 17th century and was completed in the late 19th century. At that time, the villa passed to the Spada family.

Wine Tradition and Parish Church

The Mostra del vino Prosecco e Refrontolo Passito D.O.C. takes place between the end of April and the beginning of May. The annual wine exhibition is held on the ground floor of the barchessa of Villa Spada and also includes the outdoor portico. Those visiting Refrontolo during this period can therefore combine their visit with an event that explicitly places regional wine at the centre.

The parish church in Refrontolo has been documented since the 11th century. Originally, it was a chapel dependent on the Pieve di San Pietro di Feletto. In the second half of the 15th century, it was rebuilt and became a parish church. The bell tower dates from 1613. Together, the church and bell tower give the town centre an additional historical dimension alongside the complexes of Villa Spada and Tempietto Spada.
