Discover Valdobbiadene: Prosecco Routes and Local History
Accommodation in Valdobbiadene
Valdobbiadene combines wine country, cycle paths, local history, and places of remembrance. If you want to understand the town as a travel destination, you will find various ways here to get to know its landscape and center. Its character is particularly evident along the routes: the Anello del Prosecco Superiore leads through vineyards, farmhouses, wineries, and small villages, while paths through the center and to Montagnola highlight historical and cultural aspects.
Prosecco Landscape and Cycle Paths
The Anello del Prosecco Superiore is a nature-oriented route through the well-known localities of San Pietro di Barbozza, Saccol, and Santo Stefano in the municipality of Valdobbiadene. The route passes through vineyards, by farmhouses and wineries, and through small villages associated with a long wine-growing and culinary tradition. The focus is therefore not on a single viewpoint, but on a series of landscapes and townscapes connected with the region's wine and food culture.
Another way to explore the surrounding area by bicycle is provided by the Via delle Colline. This cycle route runs through the municipalities of Valdobbiadene, Vidor, and Farra di Soligo. It connects places of historical, architectural, religious, ecological, and enogastronomic importance with the La Piave cycle path. In Valdobbiadene, the Via delle Colline can begin at the intersection with the La Piave cycle path. This provides a documented starting point in the town for travel planning, while the further route connects several municipalities and different thematic points of reference.
Places of Remembrance and Protected Monument Area
The history of the surrounding area can also be explored via dedicated routes. The Montagnola Route leads to a World War I memorial on Montagnola, a 185 m high hill on the left bank of the Piave. The Montagnola memorial site includes trenches and explanatory installations depicting the wartime events associated with the site.
The former Opificio is also located within the protected Villa dei Cedri monument area. Its historical status is part of the designation: the Opificio is referred to as a former building within the monument area. For a stay focused on local history, this area complements the routes through the wine country and to the places of remembrance with another cultural point of reference.
Exploring the Center of Valdobbiadene on Foot
To explore the town center, there is the “Valdobbiadene: itinerario in centro” route, with two variants covering 4 km and 5 km. Both variants begin and end at Piazza Marconi. The route includes, among other things, a visit to the Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta. This allows the center to be viewed as a separate circuit, distinct from the longer cycling and landscape routes. The two available route lengths offer a clear choice between two variants of the same circuit, without requiring another starting or ending point to be specified.
