Discover Radi: Forest Trail, Mountain Bike and Culture
Accommodation in Radi
Radi can be explored particularly well via its documented routes. The “Itinerario tra le colline della Valle del Chiampo verso Nogarole” leads uphill along a forest trail to Contrada Radi. This places a specific access route on foot at the center, connecting Radi with the landscape of the Valle del Chiampo and the village of Nogarole without reducing the route to a mere tour of the village.
Forest Trails and Descents Around Radi
The “Nogarole Trail – Valle del Tinazzo” also reaches Contrada Radi: after a fork in the forest behind Via Radi, the route arrives there. From Contrada Radi, the trail then continues along an unpaved gravel road through meadows and afterward along the path. This sequence clearly distinguishes it from the uphill forest trail of the “Itinerario tra le colline della Valle del Chiampo verso Nogarole.”
The “Nogarole Trail – Valle del Tinazzo” is also documented as a mountain bike descent. It runs along Via Radi and through Contrada Radi. Those wishing to compare the route types will therefore find an uphill forest trail, a trail with a forest fork and gravel section, and a route explicitly described as a mountain bike descent. Radi has traditionally been connected with Nogarole through parish life and local festivals.
The “Cammino del Beato Claudio” forms part of a larger network of routes. This spiritual and cultural route is 189 km long and leads from Santa Lucia di Piave to Chiampo. It connects the municipalities via minor roads and can be traversed on foot or by bicycle. The documented area of experiences thus ranges from a single forest trail to a longer connection with a spiritual and cultural character.
Chiampo: Pieve, Grotto and Marble
Among the cultural points of interest is the Via Crucis of Chiampo, a spiritual Way of the Cross with several stations and life-size bronze statues. The Pieve of Chiampo was established before the year 1000 and was the starting point for the evangelization of Valchiampo. It contains a painted marble statue of the Madonna and Child dating from 1480, as well as a Baroque altar from 1743. The Franciscan community began its presence at the Pieve of Chiampo in 1867.
The Grotto of Chiampo was inaugurated on September 29, 1935. It is a faithful copy of the Lourdes Grotto in the French Pyrenees. The tomb of Blessed Claudio is located at the foot of the Grotto. The Sanctuary of Chiampo also has a picnic area along Viale dell’Incoronata. At the Museum of Chiampo, you can see a collection featuring panels made from 74 types of Chiampo marble.
