Cimadolmo combines the Piave landscape with a history of water management, traces of the past, nature trails and a varied annual calendar of local events. For planning your trip, this means that it is not just a single landmark that is of interest, but the combination of riverside scenery, culture, festivals and places that are part of everyday community life.

The Piave, embankments and paths through the river landscape

Cimadolmo extends for more than 7 kilometres along the left bank of the Piave. Fifty percent of the area lies within the Piave's embankments. A particularly suitable route through the landscape is the Strada dell'Asparago Bianco di Cimadolmo IGP. It leads to the Grave di Papadopoli, where nature trails pass through the Piave ecosystem. The area of the Grave di Papadopoli is connected to both banks of the Piave by two road bridges built in the 1970s. The river area is therefore not only a natural setting, but also a historically shaped landscape with striking structures and connections.

Water management and older traces

The large dam of Cimadolmo was built between 1884 and 1886 to protect the settlements on the left bank of the Piave. Stabiuzzo also has evidence of a Roman military station along the Via Postumia. The old Church of San Silvestro in Cimadolmo was repeatedly destroyed by floods during the 15th and 16th centuries. Madorbo also points to the area's long relationship with the river: a ferry had been operating there since Roman times. An Austrian hydrometer dating from 1832 is located near the old ferry landing.

Culture, library and sport

The Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo in San Michele di Piave houses a work by the painter known as El Greco, dating from the end of the 16th century. The Biblioteca comunale “G. Agostinetti” has reading areas for children and young people, adults and the Venetian tradition. Once a month, on a Saturday, the library organises staged readings for children.

The sports facilities in Cimadolmo, on Via dello Sport, include a straight athletics track, a large natural-grass football pitch, an uncovered stand and adjoining changing rooms, two artificial-turf courts for futsal and tennis, as well as a sports hall. The annual Sport al Centro sports festival takes place there in September.

Markets and festivals throughout the year

Cimadolmo's weekly market takes place on Tuesdays in Piazza Martiri della Libertà and offers fresh local products. Every year in April and May, the Pro Loco di Cimadolmo organises the Festa dell’Asparago Bianco IGP di Cimadolmo. The Festa del Pesce e delle Nostre Acque follows in September.

The three-day Sagra dei Amoi features performances as well as live and DJ music and appeals to all age groups. In Stabiuzzo, it takes place on the first weekend of July at the same time as the religious festival of the Madonna del Latte and is rooted in local tradition. Cimadolmo can thus also be discovered through recurring events, regional products and the connection between secular and religious festivities.
