Miane can be experienced through two different types of travel: cultural and historical attractions lead to several churches and religious buildings, while hill and nature trails offer various opportunities for activity in the landscape.

Hill routes and nature between vineyards and forests

The Itinerario delle chiesette is an easy 13.5 km hill route with 300 metres of elevation gain. The average duration is four hours. Take these details into account when planning your day if you want to combine a set route with a cultural theme.

A considerably longer option is the Itinerario delle malghe e casere. The route begins at the Santuario Madonna del Carmine at an altitude of 476 metres, reaches ridges averaging 1,200 to 1,300 metres and takes a full day, including breaks. This also allows you to choose your accommodation based on whether you are planning a single excursion or a full day of hiking.

For cycling enthusiasts, there is a mountain bike route that begins at the car parks beside Miane Town Hall. It leads towards Combai and reaches the old road to the Santuario Madonna del Carmine. Another way to experience the landscape is offered by the Itinerario naturalistico 5: it runs through vineyards and mixed forests containing chestnut trees, poplars, European hop-hornbeams, hazelnuts, elder trees, English oaks, cherry trees and birches.

The nature trail leads to Pecol Molin. A stream flows there all year round, and there is also a waterfall. Those who want to combine woodland and vineyard landscapes with a specific destination along the way when planning their trip will find a different focus here than on the two hill routes.

Churches and historical features in Miane

The present-day Santuario Madonna del Carmine was built in 1819, expanded in 1828 and completed with the current choir in 1896. The Santuario Madonna del Carmine also houses an old image of the Madonna dei Pastori. The religious building is therefore both a destination connected with local history and a point of reference for the hiking and mountain bike routes described.

The campanile beside the Chiesa Arcipretale di Miane was built in 1400 as a watchtower and was later converted into a bell tower. The Chiesa Arcipretale di Miane itself was built between 1874 and 1878. Its interior includes, among other works, a painting of the Natività, reportedly painted by Dall’Oglio, as well as a painting of the Purificazione della Beata Vergine by Bellucci di Soligo. The organ in the Chiesa Arcipretale di Miane is a work by Gaetano Callido.

The town’s religious history also includes the Chiesa campestre di San Pietro and the Chiesa-Santuario di Ronch. The Chiesa campestre di San Pietro was Miane’s first parish church and dates from 1300. The Chiesa-Santuario di Ronch is dedicated to the Madonna Addolorata and was built between 1830 and 1840.

Choose accommodation to suit your travel plans

If you choose Miane as a base for a trip shaped by culture and landscapes, it is worth first defining your priorities: the 13.5 km hill route, with an average duration of four hours, clearly differs from the full-day route to the ridges and from the mountain bike trail towards Combai. Add the churches and the nature trail to Pecol Molin to this decision before choosing a hotel in Miane for your trip.
