Tacconi combines several clearly distinct reasons for travel: circular routes through the surrounding area, historic fortifications and a local history that dates back to an earlier trade route area. For travelers who wish to explore Veneto independently, the combination of cycle paths and military-historical sites is particularly important. The Località Tacconi is the starting point and a waypoint for several of the routes described.

Cycle Paths around Tacconi

The Cammino del Bardolino CdB14 circular route begins in Località Tacconi and returns there after following its course. The named sections include Calmasino, Via Bardolina, Strada regionale 450, the A22 motorway and Località Cordevigo. The route then passes under Strada regionale 450 and the A22 motorway in the direction of Località Cordevigo and subsequently returns to Località Tacconi. This makes it possible to identify the individual reference points of the circular route precisely, without limiting the route to a single town center.

Itinerario 11, “Dalla città al lago sulla strada Bardolina,” is also relevant when choosing a route. It runs along cycle paths and side roads with little traffic. After the town of Tacconi, a side road heading west passes under the A22 motorway. A less visible cycle path to Calmasino also begins in Località Tacconi, and particular caution is required on it. The “Connessione tra Chievo e Lago di Garda” route also passes through Tacconi and along Strada Bardolina.

Fortresses and the Optical Telegraph

The fortified field of Pastrengo includes Forte di Piovezzano, three forts on the hills of Pastrengo and the Optical Telegraph. The telegraph stands on Colle di San Martino in Pastrengo. The two-storey, hexagonal building was connected to Verona, more precisely to Castelvecchio, and to Monte Baldo. Its distinctive shape and this historic connection set it apart from the actual fortifications.

Another way to link the military-historical sites in an organized manner is Route 2 in Pastrengo. It leads to the viewpoint at the sites of the attack, Carlo Alberto’s Rustico, the Forte Leopold barracks, the Optical Telegraph and Forte Nugent. The route thus combines a viewpoint, buildings and fortifications in its own sequence of named stops.

Landscape and Local History

The gently sloping hills of Pastrengo’s moraine amphitheater and the Plain of Pol are crisscrossed by a dense network of easy paths. These paths run past old farmsteads and villas from the Venetian period, as well as Austrian fortifications. The landscape therefore brings together agricultural elements, Venetian architectural history and military installations.

Historically, Tacconi was one of the localities of Pastrengo that lay in an important trade route area until the mid-19th century. The present-day place name also includes Azienda Agricola Tacconi in Pastrengo. Since 1960, the family-run business has been involved in raising poultry and rabbits for sale, as well as producing eggs. Since 2016, it has had a slaughtering department for meat. The anniversaries of the Carica dei Carabinieri are also relevant to the historical classification of Pastrengo: the 178th and 179th anniversaries were scheduled for April 30, 2026, and April 30, 2027, respectively.

For your further choice of locations, you can also consider Pontepossero, Mazzano, Pacengo, Marchesino, Castion Veronese, Trevenzuolo, Ronchi and Ronco All'adige.
