Paderno Del Grappa combines short hikes, historic landmarks and trails through wooded and valley landscapes. You can explore the area both via an easy route along the Lastego stream and via more challenging trails and via ferratas. Here, culture and landscape are closely intertwined: churches, mills, waterfalls, castle ruins and the Ezzelini routes give your stay a range of different focal points.

Hikes along the Lastego and to Col Muson

The easy hike “B – Paderno and the Ezzelini Trail” begins in Paderno at the Lastego stream. It is 5.50 km long, includes 150 metres of elevation gain and takes around 1 hour and 40 minutes. Along the route are the parish church of Paderno, the old Church of San Paolo, a small waterfall and an old mill on the Lastego stream, as well as Villa Fietta. Route B therefore combines several different points of interest in a clearly described itinerary.

Route C, “Le Motte and Col Muson”, offers a different perspective. It begins in Paderno and leads through the surrounding forests to the ruins of the medieval Col Muson castle. From there, an impressive view opens out over the valley. If you would like to include forest and a historic building in addition to a short waterside route, the two routes differ primarily in their landscapes and destinations.

Church History and Historic Traces

The parish church of the Annunciation, Chiesa parrocchiale dell’Annunciazione della Beata Maria Vergine, has been documented since as early as 1297. The first document attesting to its existence is a papal tithe recorded in connection with the Pieve di San Pietro di Fonte. A later event also shaped the building: after the severe earthquake of 25 February 1695, the parish church was badly damaged and subsequently rebuilt.

The area around Paderno also leads into an older history of the landscape. Pieve del Grappa lies at the foot of Monte Grappa between the hills of the Asolo area and the Venetian plain. Here, the heritage of the villages of Crespano, Paderno and Fietta comes together. At Ca’ Biotti, an iron-rich spring of oligomineral quality is one of the area's distinctive features; it was already being used at the beginning of the 19th century.

Routes for Mountain and Cycling Enthusiasts

The Ferrata dei Sass Brusai leads from Paderno through the Lastego Valley to the Chapel of Saints Liberale and Vitale. Along the southern ridge of Sass Brusai, it overcomes around 350 metres of elevation gain. Another route is the Carlo Guzzella via ferrata: from San Liberale, it initially follows a forest road and then continues along a wooded ridge towards the rugged rock walls of Napon.

For longer tours, the “Sui Sentieri degli Ezzelini” route reconnects with the Grappa routes in San Liberale, in the municipality of Paderno. The “Sui Sentieri degli Ezzelini” tourist route along the Muson is 40 km long in total and is designed for cycling and walking. It runs mainly along the Muson River and partly along the Musonello. Along the way, it passes through the municipalities of Riese Pio X, Loria, Castello di Godego, Castelfranco Veneto, Resana, Crespano del Grappa, Paderno del Grappa, Fonte and Asolo. Thus, in addition to the shorter trails around Paderno, there is also a considerably longer route through several municipalities.
