Postioma between Roman traces and Venetian architectural history
Postioma is a suitable starting point for travelers who want to discover Veneto through its historical layers. In the village, the history of the Chiesa di Postioma, traces of Roman land division, and the buildings of the Tassoni family come together. As a result, the focus here is less on a single major attraction than on the opportunity to place different eras and forms of cultural heritage within a clearly defined local context.
Chiesa di Postioma on the ancient Via Postumia
The Chiesa di Postioma was built along the route of the ancient Via Postumia. Its architectural history is precisely documented: Archpriest Domenico Maggion commissioned its construction in 1778, and it was completed in 1795. The Chiesa thus links an ancient transport route with a church building from the late 18th century. Both the older route connection and the period in which the present church was built are therefore relevant to understanding the history of the village. Those interested in ecclesiastical architecture and the development of historic transport routes will find two interconnected points of reference in Postioma, without needing to assume a larger historical narrative.
Roman centuriation and the traces of the Tassoni family
Clearly visible traces of Roman centuriation have been preserved in the area around Postioma. The term refers to the Roman surveying and division of land; the surviving lines therefore give the area a historical structure that extends beyond individual buildings. These visible traces add an older layer to the history of the Chiesa di Postioma.
Villa Tassoni and Palazzo Tassoni are among Postioma’s other historic buildings. In Postioma, Villa Tassoni is one of the villas protected by the Istituto Regionale per le Ville Venete. G. Cagnin dates Palazzo Tassoni as early as the 14th century. The oldest frescoes on its south wall are attributed to the school of Tomaso da Modena, which was active in the Treviso area around 1350. During the discovery of the tower in Postioma, carefully crafted fragments of glass ointment vessels from the 1st to 2nd century AD were also found. The chronological span extends from the ointment vessels of the 1st to 2nd century AD to the frescoes dating from around 1350.

The Festa di San Giorgio in Postioma was scheduled to take place from April 17 to 26, 2026. Planned elements included food service and a running competition. The event has since taken place in the past and is therefore not an indication of a current or future confirmed date.
