Levada brings together several clearly distinct travel interests: historic sacred art, the beer culture of San Gabriel, experiences at Borgo della Birra and a documented route following in the footsteps of the Via Postumia. Those who choose the town as a destination will find not only individual sights, but also various themes to consider when exploring Veneto independently. Families, too, will find a specific attraction in Borgo della Birra, while the churches and the Monumento ai Caduti provide a cultural focus.

San Bonifacio: Frescoes and Works of Art from Several Periods

The small ancient parish church of San Bonifacio in Levada preserves numerous 15th-century frescoes. The church also contains the Madonna della Rondine fresco, which dates from the early years of the 16th century. During work carried out at the beginning of the 16th century, two altarpieces for San Bonifacio Martire were commissioned from Francesco Bissolo. Another special feature is the church's dedication: it is considered unique in the Diocese of Treviso. The church building can therefore be assessed not only through its age, but also through specific works and its special standing within the diocese.

San Gabriel and Beer Culture in Levada

The origins of the San Gabriel brewery date back to 1997. Since 2006, the brewery has grown two-row barley directly in the Province of Treviso. A wild hop variety called bruscandolo also grows in the San Gabriel area; it is associated with the historic brewing of beer in the region's abbeys. These connections give the local history of beer its own agricultural and historical dimension.

In Levada, San Gabriel's company shop carries all the brewery's labels and beer varieties. The Osteria della Birra serves typical cuisine and includes a historical exhibition on the history of breweries. Shopping, regional cuisine and historical interpretation therefore offer different ways of engaging with the subject of beer, without these offerings representing the same experience.

Experiences, Commemoration and a Programme from 2026

At Borgo della Birra, you can see the farm animals, ride the old train and try games from earlier times. The site thus combines agricultural impressions, a ride on a historic means of transport and games from times gone by. The Monumento ai Caduti complements the cultural perspective on Levada: the sculpture is made of Sarone stone, was created by Elena Ortica and Gaetano Brugnaro, and commemorates the fallen of all wars.

The programme of Levada in Festa 2026 also included Camminando per Levada, a 6 km recreational and sporting run. This programme item should be understood as part of the 2026 event and does not describe a general or permanently established future event rule.

Orientation in the Town and Route of the Via Postumia

Levada has a roundabout at the intersection of S.R. 53 Postumia, S.P. 117 Via della Vittoria and Via Ferrovia. A Via Postumia route leads from Levada via Via della Vittoria, Via Chiodo and Via Grassaghella. It then crosses the Postumia regional road and continues along a cycle path towards Ponte di Piave and Salgareda. The route therefore specifies particular roads and the further direction of travel, rather than referring only generally to a historic route.
