Trevignano combines rural trails, historic buildings and events that bring local traditions to life. If you would like to combine your stay with walks, cycling tours and cultural history, you will find various points of interest here: the trail network of Agritour dei Cavedin opens up the surrounding area, while churches, oratories and Villa Onigo provide concrete insights into the history of the place.

Rural Trails, Trevignano–Caerano Cycle Path and Canale Brentella

Agritour dei Cavedin takes hikers, cyclists, Nordic walking enthusiasts, families and tourists along quiet rural roads. Its trail network connects cultural and environmental sites, most of which can be reached via easy-to-walk paths. This allows visitors to explore the area not only through individual sights, but also through its rural connections.

For a longer loop, the perimeter route of Agritour dei Cavedin is available. It runs along the boundaries of the municipality of Trevignano and includes the other ten routes. Another clear orientation point is the Trevignano–Caerano cycle path, which runs along the Canale Brentella. To the north of Trevignano, the “ai Prai” nature trail also lies in the rural landscape; it is connected to this cycle path.

Churches, Villas and Traces of the Past

The parish church of Trevignano was rebuilt between 1762 and 1769 based on a design by the Venetian architect Giorgio Massari. Its façade bears a fresco of Saints Teonisto, Tabra and Tabrata. Inside, a large anonymous fresco of the Assumption of the Virgin decorates the ceiling.

Villa Onigo complements this historical picture with several different uses and design elements. Its restoration was completed around 1687 under the architect Andrea Pagnossin. The ballroom was painted in the mid-17th century by Giovanni Colombini. Today, Villa Onigo houses the Trevignano municipal library and serves as a venue for exhibitions of figurative art. The library has a multimedia workstation for research, printing and internet use, as well as free Wi-Fi for registered users.

South of Trevignano, the Chiesetta di San Sisto stands just a few steps from the ancient Via Postumia in a rural setting. Traces of a Roman-era necropolis were found at the site. The Oratorio di S. Sisto preserves a painting of the Last Supper attributed to Carlo Linzi. The Oratorio di Sant’Elena dell’aceto has also been preserved on the Feltrina road; it is the only surviving building of a hospice for soldiers and travellers.

The hamlet of Madonnette also forms part of Trevignano’s historical landscape: old routes and historic field layouts bear witness there to Roman centuriation.

Events with Historical Significance

The Palio del Batar Panoce is a historical and sporting event that has taken place every year in Trevignano since 1991. At each Sunday event of the Palio, before the neighbourhood competition, all the teams walk across Trevignano’s square in historic costumes. In doing so, they honour former practices, tools, customs and traditions. In the Palio delle Borgate, six teams compete against one another; each team represents a specific district of Trevignano.

The patron saint’s festival of San Sisto includes traditional trippa alla parmigiana, singing and wine. The event thus points to the local festival and food culture just as the Palio evokes the historical representation of earlier ways of life.
